About Us

The Death Notice Directory is the most comprehensive on-line source for Death Notices, Obituaries and Funeral Homes in the United States and Canada. The thought process behind the development of the Death Notice Directory originated as a result of many friends conveying similar stories of frustration. The story would go as follows; "Jane Doe's (fictional name) Mother passed away. I've browsed through the obituaries of the local newspaper, the national newspapers, and the internet and could find no information as per Mrs. Doe's Visitation or Funeral. I even called several Funeral Homes and unfortunately, could not locate where or what Funeral Home was overseeing her Funeral Arrangements." We believe that the Death Notice Directory will eliminate or decrease the frequency of this type of scenario occurring, while simplifying the communication of Funeral arrangements more efficiently and expeditiously.

A family death is perhaps the most traumatic and emotional of all life experiences. Receiving the support of family, friends and acquaintances during this time is an integral part of lessening that trauma. The Death Notice Directory hopes that it will assist both families and family supporters in conveying that emotional support either physically or electronically. Through National acceptance of the Death Notice Directory by families and the endorsement of this service by Funeral Service Providers, we feel The Death Notice Directory will be an invaluable therapeutic tool in assisting families in the United States and Canada in the healing process.

From the original concept of creating a website that would convey Funeral Service information more cost effectively and efficiently, the concept evolved to incorporate a historical family perspective with respect to predeceased family members in the Family Past element of The Death Notice Directory. These individuals may have passed away prior to the technological advancements and opportunities made available by the establishment of the internet. The Family Past element of the Death Notice Directory now provides us with a vehicle for you to electronically memorialize the memory of those predeceased family members not available at the time of their passing.

From an Organizational or Corporate perspective, we decided to create a platform where Groups who have worked together for a common purpose can now create a "Wall of Remembrance". Within this element of the Death Notice Directory, corporations, small businesses, service clubs, teams or whatever group of people with a common purpose, can now honour and memorialize predeceased members of that group. We hope that Group Memorials becomes a conventional and nationally utilized format amongst groups in Canada and the United States that honours the contributions of their deceased group members.

If you have utilized our services in creating an online Memorial Profile for a loved one, "Thank You". If you are a Funeral Service Provider that is consistently endorsing our services to your families, "Thank You". If you have a created a Group Memorial Wall of Remembrance on behalf of your organization, "Thank You". Your business is very much appreciated.

We are always looking for ways and means to improve the efficacy of our service. If you have any suggestions or requests pertaining to how we can do so within any element of our website, we would very much appreciate your input. Conversely if you have found utilizing our services to be efficient, meaningful or therapeutic in any way, we would be honoured to receive a testimonial imparting the impact the Death Notice Directory had on you personally.

I recently received a Death Announcement from your site when a good friend's brother suddenly passed away. I was so impressed with the way this information was conveyed to me and several of her close but logistically distant friends through your site. I then forwarded on the email to several of our other friends that she had lost touch with. We were able to co-ordinate it so that we could all attend the service together. If not for your service, this probably wouldn't have happened.
